The Department of Chemistry at Pratapsinh Mohite-Patil Mahavidyalaya was established in 2007. The chemistry department is the heart of the institute with almost 75% of students opting for Chemistry. This is one of the largest departments of the college as per student strength. In its history of 16 years, it has grown considerably. The department offers UG (B.Sc.),and various skill-based certificate courses like Water Analysis, Alcohol technology, and Sugar technology. The department’s goal is to make learning easy and create interest in the students. Apart from the traditional teaching process, our staff insists on using modern teaching tools like models, LCD projectors, and Chem software. Students are encouraged to make oral and Power Point presentations and give seminars to enhance creativity, communication skills and confidence. Innovative teaching methodologies incorporated in the regular teaching program like an industrial visit, experiment demonstration, use of models, Quizzes, Poster Presentation, and Guest lectures help to develop and maintain student’s interest in chemistry.

Objectives

  1. To provide a strong foundation in modern chemistry, including physical, inorganic, organic, and analytical.
  2. To offer research projects to build research interest and transform chemists into productive scientists, teachers, entrepreneurs, and researchers.
  3. To provide the best education in chemistry that will serve as a part of the foundation for lifelong learning of science and chemistry.
