Objectives of Department

• Advance the cause of higher education
• Provide a sound academic background for overall development of personality for a successful career in Microbiology.
• Provide an environment that fosters continuous improvement and innovation in the subject
• To maintain an interest in the study of microbiology, immunology and genetics by appreciating its role in day to day life. 
• To establish essential habits of continuing self-learning through critical reading and evaluation of information in the above mentioned fields;

• Well adequate Laboratory with instruments.
• Efficient and experienced teaching staff.
• Better employability in pharmaceuticals & fermentation industry.
• Students and Faculty members are actively engaged in research, presented papers in national conferences.
• Alumni of this department assist students for employment.
• Excellent course structure enables the student to utilize the techniques in industry.
• Good academic results.
• Student centered teaching.
• High success rates of examinations as per university results.
• Representation by faculty members in Board of Studies and Faculty (Science and Technology) in university.

Weaknesses

• Less collaboration with pharmaceutical industries.
• Less awareness among the students towards competitive examination.
• Space constraint in the laboratory.
• Unavailability or shortage of Regular and Experienced Teaching Staff.

Opportunities

• Consultancy Services can be given to various stakeholders for potable water quality, Sterility testing of pharmaceutical bioactive compounds, agriculture etc.
• To acquire more MoUs with relevant companies and research laboratories.
• To start new add on course like Dairy technology , Food science, Clinical research, etc.
• Being located in the backward region it is great opportunities to provide quality education to the under privileged and community weaker section of the society.
• To enhance teaching and learning ability of student and faculty through exchange program within the cluster college.

Challenges

• To enhance collaborations with pharmaceutical industries for Research.
• Inadequate opportunities in campus recruitments
• To enhance language and communication competence of the students coming from the backward and remote areas.
• To enable students to compete state and national level competitions with existing  available resources.

Future Plans

1. To establish a fully equipped modern Microbiology laboratory.
2. To introduce a diploma course and certificate course related to food & diary microbiology.
3. To expose the students to various programs pertaining to the subject in India.
4. To implement co curricular activities by introducing research based projects.
5. To celebrate various National, International days, birth and death anniversary of popular scientists in microbiology by organizing Food festival, Rangoli competition etc.
6. To collaborate with various research institutions and industries to make the students competent for better placement.
7. To get research incentives like felicitation to students for in house research activities.
8. To create facility for the competitive exam like JAM, NET/SLET, GATE etc.
